1. Dichorisandra acaulis Cogniaux (1894: 297) View in CoL .

Lectotype (designated here):—[illustration] tab. 19 in Cogniaux (1894), image available at https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/ 31301#page/386/mode/1up

Distribution:—The species is apparently restricted to forests in northern Espírito Santo State.

Habitat:—Dense Ombrophilous Montane Forest (Tabuleiro Forest).

Notes:— Cogniaux (1894) described D. acaulis based on material collected in Brazil and cultivated at the botanical garden in Brussels ( Belgium). No specimens of the cultivated material used by Cogniaux to describe the species were found in the BR herbarium nor elsewhere. The illustration in plate XIX clearly identifies the species and is here designated as the lectotype according to Art. 9.12 of the ICN ( McNeill et al. 2012). It shows diagnostic characters of the species, such as the very short stem, leaves in a rosette, and a much reduced terminal inflorescence.
