This genus comprises a single variable species, M. papuensis Bagnall , that is known only from New Guinea. Large males, with a body length of almost 15mm, are probably the largest of all Thysanoptera , with a forwardly recurved tubercle on the upper surface of each fore coxa, and a short postocular seta arising from a tubercle.
