Male Description

( Figs. 1–7 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2 View FIGURE 3 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 View FIGURE 6 View FIGURE 7 )

Head. Antennae black. Scape and pedicel with black setae. Postpedicel almost bare, with only few short black setae. Antennal style ventrally with sensory element (bifed spine) in a pit ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). Style covered with minute spinules. Antennal segments and style ratios respectively; 1.3:1:2.8:1.2. Projections at just behind of antenna almost same length as that of pedicel. These projections covered with minute black setae ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ). Face almost same width along length, narrows slightly in middle. Face with glossy, silvery-yellow pubescence. Mystax numerous and whitish yellow. Facial gibbosity extends to middle of face, passes from eye level to approximately length of style in lateral view. Frons shiny black with sparse, yellowish setae. Ocellar tubercle on same level as antennal socket. Ocellar setae proclinate; sparse, short, and yellow. Vertex deep excavated as long as antennal style. Antennal socket at eye level. Occiput shiny black, narrow, with silvery-white pubescent band extending from base of ocellar tubercle to level of occipital foramen on its outer margin. Occipital setae dense and yellowish white. Palpi black, palpal setae pale yellow. Proboscis black, pointed at the tip, flattened dorsally near apex. Proboscial setae yellowish. Thorax. Completely glossy black. Scutum with short dense, yellowish white setae. 8–9 supra-alar setae of similar color and length; setae on scutum similar in color but thicker. Postalar setae of same length as setae on scutum, but more dense and thicker. Discal scutellar setae are long and inwardly inclined, so that tips of closest setae overlap. Marginal scutellar setae upwardly curved. Ventral scutellar setae directed inwardly. Yellowish white discal scutellar setae longer than setae on scutum. Scutellum slightly wrinkled. Setae anteriorly on antepronotum, posterior antepronotum, proepisternal, 2nd cervical sclerite and proepimeron similar to setae on scutum. Mesothoracic spiracle, yellowish white pubescent, without setae. Upper and posterior margins of anepisternum with broad, bright, yellowish white pubescent band. Dorsal anepisternal setae downwardly directed, posterior anepisternal setae backwardly directed, dense and yellowish white. Katepisternum with yellowish white pubescence at upper posterior corner, without setae. Anepimeral and katatergal setae directed towards each other. Mesopostnotum and anatergite with shiny, dense yellowish white pubescence. Anatergite without setulae. Meron with yellowish white pubescence at apical margin and medially. Wings. Membrane hyaline, slightly brownish yellow. Wing surface covered with microtrichia. Setae at base of costa yellowish to humeral vein, thereafter blackish. r-m vein is located in posterior half of discal cell. Microtrichae on posterior margin of wing brownish. All marginal cells open at wing margin ( Fig 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Halteres lemon yellow. Legs. Coxae black, yellowish white pubescence laterally, all coxal setae similar to setae on scutum. Fore and mid legs yellow except apical half of 5 th tarsomere, pulvilli and claws of fore legs black, also claws of mid legs brown. Hind femora black except for yellowish proximal and distal tips. Hind femora gradually expands from base to tip, the widest part about 1.5 times the base diameter. Last quarter of hind tibiae about 2 times diameter of base. Hind femora with brush-shaped, with fine, yellowish white setae ventrally. Coloration of hind tibiae as follows: first quarter completely yellow, next 2/4 yellow dorsally, last quarter partially black. 1 st tarsomere of hind tarsus as wide as tibia, dorsal half black, ventral half yellow. 2 nd and 4 th tarsomeres gradually shortened. Empodium black and short, as one third of the claws. Pulvillus black on fore leg, yellowish on the other legs. All setae and macrosetae of legs yellowish white. Abdomen. Tergites 1 and 2 wide, tergites 3 and 4 narrow remaining tergites approximately as wide as first tergite. Tergite 1 completely shiny black. Tergite 2 shiny yellow, except crescent-shaped, at base with shiny black lunate spotted. Tergites 3 and 4 shiny yellow with blackish brown stripe without boundaries at middle, darker stripe on tergite 4. Tergites 5 and 6 shiny black, with narrow, yellow bands at posterior margins. Tergite 7 shiny black with a posterior yellow band expanded on sides. Tergite 8 brownish yellow with narrow, mid black band ( Fig 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Tergites setae sparse, very short and yellowish. Lateral marginal setae of tergites yellowish. Sternite 1 and 2 yellow, 3 and 4 brownish yellow, 5 and 6 black, 7 and 8 brownish yellow. Terminalia with yellowish setulae and setae. Gonocoxite and epandrium brownish red, gonostylus blackish. Epandrium with a deep, wide cleft and with a long, pointed process apically ( Figs 6–7 View FIGURE 6 View FIGURE 7 ). Hypandrium brownish red, posterior margin concave and covered with dense, long yellowish setae ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ). Gonocoxite with lobe like process at apex ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ).

Body length: 8.5 mm; wing length: 6 mm.

Female. ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ) Females are similar to males except for: wider yellow band on proximal and distal tips of hind femora. Hind tibiae completely yellow. 1 st– 4 th tarsomeres of all legs yellow; distal half of 5 th tarsomere black. Pulvilli yellow on all legs. Claws black except yellow on basal half. Tergites 1 and 2 similar, tergite 3 is expanded backwards, remaining tergites wider. Tergites 2–4 black with wide, yellow bands at lateral margins. Tergite 5 black with wide, yellow stain at posterior corners. Tergite 6 black with yellow stain on posterior corners wider than tergite 5. Tergites 7 and 8 brownish red. Posterior margin of sternite 8 broadly indented and covered with dense whitish yellow setulae.

Body length: 9,5 mm; wing length: 6,5 mm.
