Distribution: Australia: Formerly Northern Territory and N Western Australia, survives in NW of Western Australia and on Barrow Isl.
Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable as I. auratus , I. a. auratus , and I. a. barrowensis. Rare.
Discussion: See Ride (1970:96) and Lyne and Mort (1981), who recognized arnhemensis and barrowensis as distinct species. A revision based on wider material is needed.
