Distribution. Western, Southern, and Eastern Europe, Russia (European part), Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Cyprus, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan.

Remarks. Three subspecies were hitherto recognized in this species: Euodynerus disconotatus disconotatus ( Lichtenstein, 1884) , E.disconotatus laniensis Giordani Soika, 1979 , and E. disconotatus sulfuripes ( Morawitz, 1885) ( Gusenleitner 2013) . Odynerus kokpeticus Radoszkowski, 1886 is considered synonymous with E. disconotatus sulfuripes ( van der Vecht & Fischer 1972) while O. collariventris Giordani Soika, 1942 and E. disconotatus albidus Blüthgen, 1951b are considered synonymous with the nominotypical subspecies ( van der Vecht & Fischer 1972; Gusenleitner 1997). We consider all subspecies synonymous since the differences are based on the punctation of the terga and the coloration which are very variable in this species; different “forms” sometimes occur in sympatry. We have examined 205 specimens from the Crimea with different coloration and somewhat different degree of the punctation, some of them were even reared from the same trap nests. The same situation was observed in progeny of trap-nesting individuals from the Caucasus (Dagestan). Specimens from Cyprus (13 individuals were examined) are not principally different from those from Central Asia and Transcaucasia. Therefore, E. disconotatus = E. disconotatus sulfuripes , syn. nov. = E. disconotatus laniensis , syn. nov.
