Published records. Blüthgen (1961): 83 (Ordubad). Material examined. Shakhbuz, Kechili , 39°22′N, 45°43′E, 1800 m, 19. VI GoogleMaps .2019, 1 ♀ [ FSCV] .
Distribution. Western, Northern, Southern, and Eastern Europe, North Africa, Russia (European part, Urals, Western Siberia, Eastern Siberia, Far East), Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia.
Remarks. Two subspecies of this species were considered valid besides the nominotypical one ( van der Vecht & Fischer 1972; Kurzenko 1977; Gusenleitner 1998b, 2013): Gymnomerus laevipes algeriensis (Dusmet y Alonso, 1928) and G. laevipes scandinavus (de Saussure, 1856) , the latter one with an additional synonym ( Odynerus sibiricus Mocsáry, 1883 , nec Morawitz, 1867), but they were based on the coloration only. Gymnomerus laevipes scandinavus has whitish pattern instead of the yellow one that is obviously not taxonomically important. A new synonymy is therefore proposed here. Gymnomerus laevipes algeriensis has largely developed yellow pattern on the body.Apparently, it is also synonymous with the nominotypical subspecies but requires a revision due to the isolated distribution (North Africa); therefore, it is not included to the synonymy listed here.
