Remarks. Two subspecies of Odynerus albopictus de Saussure, 1856 were recognized besides the nominotypical one ( van der Vecht & Fischer 1972; Kurzenko 1977; Gusenleitner 1998b, 2013). The subspecies O. albopictus calcaratus ( Morawitz, 1885) was based on the coloration only, i.e., a largely developed yellow pattern (particularly, the presence of yellow spots on the scutellum). This character is, however, variable even within the same population (a large sample from the Crimea with 115 specimens was examined). The subspecies O. albopictus kazakhstanicus Kurzenko, 1977 has whitish pattern instead of the yellow one that is obviously not taxonomically important. Therefore, O. albopictus = O. albopictus calcaratus , syn. nov. = O. albopictus kazakhstanicus , syn. nov.
