DESCRIPTION:
Male
Measurements ♂: length: 8–9.5 mm, width: 3.5–4 mm.
Body: Laterally slightly convex, relatively elongate, slightly bent, broader in middle of elytra; abdomen concave; short process at base of prosternum rounded; entirely brownish with blackish irregular desquamulate patches on pronotum and elytra, pygidium blackish-brown, legs reddish; antennae yellowish; slightly shining.
Head: broad, clypeus rounded, totally reflexed; clypeus and frons covered with tubercles; vertex with shallow horseshoe-shaped punctures; antennae with 10 antennomeres, with club longer than funicle.
Thorax: pronotum rectangular, wider than long; sides slightly angular in the middle, with all margins carinate; anterior angles slightly projecting and reaching posterior margin of eyes; with close shallow horseshoe-punctures; blackish desquamulate patches microreticulate; impressed point on lateral margins.
Scutellar shield rather triangular with rounded sides, with shallow horseshoe-punctures.
Elytra: longer than wide; epipleura complete; primary costae more convex than intervals, secondary striae with close horseshoe-shaped punctures; striae formed by a line of close horseshoe-shaped punctures; humeral calli marked, apical calli strongly marked; apex of elytra coarsely punctuated, glabrous below calli.
Pygidium: triangular with apex rounded, carinate along anal plate; disc glabrous and strigate; slightly projecting postero-ventrally, and not surpassing apex of elytra.
Venter: upper part of metaventrite with close shallow horseshoe-shaped punctures, sparsely towards median part; abdominal ventrites with imbricate puncture.
Legs: protibiae tridentate; pro- and mesotarsal larger claws cleft; metatarsus with larger claw twice longer than smaller one and uncleft.
Hairs: dorsal side covered with short yellowish-white, squamous, decumbent setae; closer on disc of elytra, along sutural striae and after declivity; four tufts of close longer yellowish-white scales around humeral calli, the largest with longer setae on top of humeral calli; long separated erected yellowish setae on antennae, on canthus and along lateral margins to declivity of elytra.
Underside covered with longer yellowish-white, squamous, decumbent setae, slightly longer and closer on sides of mesoventrite; sparse long decumbent brownish-yellow setae inserted in setigerous punctures, one single setigerous puncture on meso and metacoxae, transversal line on abdominal ventrites, closer along anal plate; close long decumbent yellowish-white setae along anterior and posterior margins of prosternum, longer and erected on base of labium; pygidium covered with separated yellowish-white squamous setae, short and decumbent on sides, progressively longer and erected to disc, apex glabrous, a tuft of close long erected yellowish-white setae to the middle part of base.
Outer and inner sides of protibiae, metatibiae and outer sides of mesotibiae with short, yellowish-white, squamous, decumbent, setae; inner sides of mesotibiae desquamulate; inner margins of protibiae with a line of close long, erected brownish setae.
Aedeagus: poorly sclerotized, in lateral view, parameres perpendicular to median part, ventrally strongly sinuate before apex, dorsally slightly curved; in dorsal view, base undulate and almost perpendicular; lateral margins of parameres parallel from base to apex; apex with two triangular shaped projections.
Female
Measurements ♀: length: 9.5–10 mm, width: 4.5–5 mm.

Differs from ♂ by: larger, laterally more convex and abdomen convex; antennae with club as long as funicle; pygidium strongly projecting postero-ventrally and not surpassing apex of elytra; protibiae with apical teeth broader.
DERIVATIO NOMINIS.
Dedicated to Caroline Roniat, the girlfriend of Sébastien Rojkoff (Sourcieux-les-Mines, France).
DISTRIBUTION. Known from Sierra Leone.
BIOLOGY. The species was collected in May and July.
