Synonym: Pachycypris leuckarti Claus 1892 .

Type locality: the material comes from Peitiado Pond (“ Laguna de Peitiado ”), Córdoba Province, Argentina (GN 31°24’49” S, 64°10’52” W); no locality details. No known repository for the material .

In Venezuela: the occurrence of the species in Venezuela probably comes from Claus (1892) (see remarks): DISTRITO CAPITAL —Caracas ( Karanovic 2012).

Remarks: geographical distribution includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Peru ( Martens & Behen 1994). Mentions for Venezuela come from Sharpe (1910), Martens & Behen (1994), and Karanovic (2012); however, the records probably come from Claus (1892) and not from later records. Claus in his original description refers to material collected in Venezuela, specifically to the variety C. leuckarti var. pallida , which he assigns and describes in the same paragraphs as the nominal species. Geographical coordinates indicated by Karanovic (2012) for Caracas do not correspond to the locality originally offered by Claus (1892). Therefore, we suggest reviewing the Venezuelan localities where C. leuckarti var. pallida have been recorded.
