Type locality: Villa Sana , Baches Paso Ita, Paraguay (22º49’ S, 57º05’ W) GoogleMaps . Type (¿? Sex not indicated)— HMHN, IV / P–182. Leptotype (1♀)— UFRGS, MP –0–316. Leptoparatype (1♁)— UFRGS, MP –0–317.

In Venezuela: at the following locality according to Bold (1964): ARAGUA and CARABOBO States —no location details, Lake Valencia (GN 10º10’46” N, 67º43’52” W) GoogleMaps .

Remarks: geographical distribution of this species includes Argentina ( Bechara 1996), Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela ( Martens & Behen 1994), Mexico ( Cohuo et al. 2016), and Colombia ( Ruiz-Jiménez et al. 2020). The record for Venezuela comes from material recovered from recent sediments ( Bold 1964). Martens et al. (1998) indicate that the characteristic habitat of the species is lacustrine environments.
