Specimens examined

Sichuan: 2♀♀, Kangding, 28 May 1983, leg. XZ Zhang ( IZAC) .

Diagnosis

This species resembles D. diceras (MacLachlan) in the apically expanded hypovalve, but the hypovalve is truncated at apex in D. stotzneri , and rounded in D. diceras .

Redescription

The male specimens are not available to us. The following redescription is based on two female specimens. The following description of the male is mainly based on Esben- Petersen (1934) and Cheng (1957).

Redescription – male

Body lemon-coloured; vertex with a black spot enclosing ocelli. Rostrum with two black longitudinal lateral stripes. Dorsum of body with two black lateral longitudinal stripes extending from pronotum to tergum V.

Wings. Forewing length 17 mm; membrane faintly yellowish tinged, tip of wings strongly bordered with yellowish brown; veins blackish brown, Sc extending into pterostigma. Hindwing length 15 mm, similar to forewings except that Sc reaches only half way to the pterostigma.

Male genitalia. Genital bulb oval. Hypovalves greatly broadened towards truncated apex, reaching the apex of gonocoxite. Gonostylus slender, with pointed and inwardly curved apex, outer margin very slightly concave at middle, inner margin with a sharp mesal process and a rounded basal lobe. Parameres trifurcate.

Redescription – female

Body similar to the male in colour and size, forewing length 16.2–16.8 mm, width 4.2–4.5 mm; hindwing length 14.8–15.0 mm, width 4.0 mm. Wings dusky hyaline, without marking except the extremely reduced smoky apical band. Pterostigma distinct. Hindwing similar to forewing in pattern ( Figure 12A View Figure 12 ).

Female genitalia. Subgenital plate broadly oval with tip slightly produced, smoothly rounded, and apical part of the plate with several strong black setae. Genital plate rather large, genital plate broadened near base, folded ventrad. Posterior arms well developed, somewhat divergent. Axis very short ( Figure 12 View Figure 12 B–D).
