Genus Antepipona de Saussure, 1855

Antepipona de Saussure 1855: 244 , name for section C of division V of subgenus Leionotus de Saussure of genus Odynerus Latreille in de Saussure 1853: 213 ; validated by ICZN (1970). Type species: Odynerus silaos de Saussure, 1853 , by subsequent designation of van der Vecht 1967: 30; confirmed by ICZN (1970).

Antepipone Dalla Torre 1894: 50, 96 (incorrect spelling of Antepipona de Saussure ).

Odontodynerus Blüthgen 1938a: 280 (as subgenus of “ Euodynerus Blüthgen ” [= Euodynerus Dalla Torre ]). Type species: Odynerus orbitalis H.-Sch. 1841 [= Odynerus orbitalis Herrich-Schaeffer, 1839 ], by original designation. Synonymized by van der Vecht (1970: 17).

Dichodynerus Blüthgen 1938b: 444 . Type species: “ L. vagus Rad. (= vagabundus D. T. nom. nov.)” [= Odynerus vagabundus Dalla Torre, 1889 ], by original designation. Objective synonym of Metastenancistrocerus Blüthgen, 1938 ( Blüthgen, 1939: 246).

Diagnosis. Axillary fossa oval, broader than long; propodeum with submarginal carina produced into pointed lamella apically and valvula enlarged and free posteriorly from submarginal carina; metanotum bidentate; pretegular carina present; T1 sessile, without transverse carina; fore wing with recurrent veins both received in second submarginal cell; second submarginal cell not petiolate.

Distribution. Ethiopian, Oriental and Palearctic Regions.

Ethology. In this study we observed an interesting behavior, i.e., parasitic association of strepsipteran insects, for the first time in the genus Antepipona .
