Papuogryllacris Griffini, 1909f View in CoL
Type species: Gryllacris gestri Griffini, 1909g
Diagnosis. The genus is characterized by the reduced number of spines on the ventral margins of fore and mid tibiae combined with the absence of a pre-apical spine at ventral margins of the hind tibiae. One of both characters may occasionally also occur in species from genera not closely related to Papuogryllacris . Tegeminal venation with free media anterior; cubitus anterior releases a first branch that divides from the stem in a curvature, receives a connection branch from MA and then divides into MP and CuA1. This agrees with the situation in other fully winged species e.g. of the genera Capnogryllacris or Diaphanogryllacris but differs from the situation in the genera related to Gryllacris . The apical margin of the ninth abdominal tergite is provided with a pair of hook or spine like projections. The male subgenital plate has the apical margin rather narrowly projecting between the bases of the styli.
