Material examined. Indonesia, Java, Magelang , 1928, Dr. Kühlwein— 1 male (Museum Wiesbaden) .

Description. Medium sized species. Head: Face oval; forehead nearly smooth; fastigium verticis moderately wider than scapus; ocelli indistinct ( Fig. 26B View FIGURE 26 ). Abdominal tergites two and three without stridulatory pegs.

Wings little surpassing hind knees ( Fig. 26A View FIGURE 26 ). Tegmen: Radius and RS forked near tip. Media anterior fused at base with radius; media posterior absent; cubitus anterior simply divides into two branches; cubitus posterior unibranched and free throughout; with 4 anal veins, last two with common stem.

Legs: Fore coxa with a spine at fore margin; fore and mid femora unarmed; fore and mid tibiae with four pairs of large ventral spines and one pair of smaller ventral spurs; hind femur with 10–11 external and 7–8 internal spines on ventral margins; hind tibia with spaced spines on both dorsal margins, ventral margins with one pre-apical spine each; with 3 apical spurs on both sides.

Coloration. General color light brown; vertex unicolored; disc of pronotum with four narrow dark bands converging posteriorly, hind margin rim dark brown. Legs of general color. Face in upper area to about ventral margin of eyes light brown, lower area including anterior area of genae, labrum and mandibles black, lower area of clypeus and base of labrum yellow to medium brown;. Tegmen semi-transparent white with yellow veins and veinlets; hind wing semi-transparent white with yellow veins and veinlets.

Male. Eighth abdominal tergite moderately prolonged behind. Ninth abdominal tergite moderately prolonged behind, in dorsal view with converging lateral margins; lateral and apical margins curved down; at tip angularly impressed and provided with a pair of obtuse, upcurved projections ( Figs. 26 View FIGURE 26 C–D). Subgenital plate about twice as wide as long, lateral margins convex, apical margin slightly convex but little excised in middle; styli slightly curved, inserted at lateral angles ( Fig. 26E View FIGURE 26 ).

Female. see subspecies P. p. moeschi below.

Measurements (1 male).—body w/wings: 29; body w/o wings: 20; pronotum: 6; tegmen: 19.5; tegmen width: 6.3; hind femur: 14.5; antenna: 70 mm.
