Pyralis bipunctana Fabricius, 1794: 250 .

Type locality. Italy (“Habitat in Italia Dr. Allioni”).

Material examined. S & TL coll. 1 specimen.

Identity. Phiaris bipunctana (Fabricius) ( Olethreutinae , Olethreutini ) (Kuznetsov 1973).

Remarks. This is a distinctive Fabrician taxon with long-term stability. The species has remained in the group of genera related to Olethreutes Hübner, 1822 (sensu Diakonoff 1973) . It is placed in Olethreutes s. str. in some references (e.g., Brown 2005), but it has been more commonly associated with Argyroploce Hübner, 1825 ( Kennel 1910, 1916; Hannemann 1961) or Phiaris Hübner, 1825 in contemporary literature (Kuznetsov 1973; Aarvik 2011).
