Pyralis dorsana Fabricius, 1775: 654 ; 1781: 287; 1887: 238; 1794: 282.

Type locality. Germany, Leipzig (“Habitat in Lipsiae hortis”).

Material examined. Kiel coll. 1 lectotype.

Identity. Dichrorampha petiverella ( Linnaeus, 1758) ( Olethreutinae , Grapholitini ).

Remarks. The lectotype was designated by Karsholt and Nielsen (1976: 249). Fabricius (1787: 238) stated that his dorsana was a synonym of Tortrix lunulana Denis and Schiffermüller, 1775 (as Phalaena lunulana ), and this comment was the origin of a long series of misidentifications and incorrect uses for this name.
