Type Locality: China, Sichuan, "Ta-tsien-lu".

Vernacular Names: Smith's Shrew.

Distribution: C Sichuan to W Shaanxi ( China).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc) as Soriculus smithii .

Discussion: Regarded as a subspecies of salenskii by Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1951:60), but as a separate species by Corbet (1978 c:24). Formerly included parca and furva; but see Hoffmann (1985 b).
