Diagnosis: Plakinidae without spicules, well-developed mesohyl with a collagen layer between ecto- and choanosome, with or without sub-ectosomal cavities. Leuconoid aquiferous system and aphodal choanocyte chambers. High abundance of prokaryotic symbionts.
