COMMON NAME (S): Grass moth or Crambid Snout Moth. SYNONYM(S): Botys crocealis Duponchel, 1834 ; Botys aurantiacalis Fischer von R̂slerstamm, 1840; Botys mysolalis Walker, 1866a ; Botys aurea Butler, 1879c ; Syllepte irregularis Rothschild, 1915b ; Syllepte evergestialis Strand, 1918c ; Pleuroptya africalis Leraut, 2005 .

Congo, Réunion, Romania, Senegal, Serbia and Montenegro, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka,
Sudan, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Zambia.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province. LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants of the taxon include Boehmeria stipularis (Urticaceae) and the Anacardiaceae species Anacardium occidentale L., Rhus cotinus L. a nd Pistacia terebinthus L. in Réunion, the Anacardiaceae species Anacardium occidentale L. in Madagascar and Pseudospondias microcarpa (A.Rich.) Engl. in the Democratic Republicof Congo. The taxon is also known to feed on the following Anacardiaceae species elsewhere in Africa Toxicodendron vernicifluum (Stokes) F.A. Barkley and Cotinus coggygria
Scop. This species of moths also feeds on the following Fagaceae , Quercus serrata Murray and Castanea
sp.
