COMMON NAME (S): Mealy Hawkmoth or Mealy Hawk.

SYNONYM(S): Platysphinx bourkei Trimen, 1910 .

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Abercorn [now Mbala], in Northern Province ; Chisamba, in Central Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larval foodplants include: Six Fabaceae species ( Millettia sp. , Mundulea sp. , Ostryoderris sp. , Craibia sp. , Pterocarpus sp. and Pterocarpus angolensis DC. ) in South Africa ( Pinhey 1975; van den Berg et al.

1975) and without being specific as into which country or countries indicated above they are found, the African Moths (2019) webpage reports the following seven Fabaceae species as larval foodplants of the taxon: Aganope sp. , Craibia zimmermannii (Harms) Dunn , Lonchocarpus sutherlandii (Harv.) Dunn , Mundulea sericea (Willd.) A.Chev. , Pterocarpus angolensis DC. , P. rotundifolius (Sond.) Druce and Xeroderris stuhlmannii (Taub.) Mendonca & Sousa.
