COMMON NAME (S): Variable scallop.
SYNONYM(S): Geometra mangiferaria Boisduval, 1833 ; Hyperythra miegii Mabille, 1882 ; Petrodava olivata Warren, 1897b ; Petrodava insularis Warren, 1899a ; Hyperythra humbloti Oberthur, 1912 .
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Botswana, Cameroon, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Réunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia,
Zimbabwe.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Lusaka in Lusaka Province; Kabwe in Central Province ; Mid Luangwa valley 14.50°S in Eastern Province .
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Two Rhamnaceae species namely Ziziphus jujuba Mill. and one yet to be insentified and simply reported as Ziziphus sp. , are host plants of the taxon in South Africa ( Pinhey 1975; Hausmann et al. 2016). No specific host plants have been named for Zambia, while Rhamnaceae species Ziziphus jujuba Mill. have been named as larval foodplants of the taxon by the Africam Moths (2019) webpage.
