COMMON NAME (S): Modest Gypsy.
SYNONYM(S): Sarothropyga rhodopepla Felder, 1874 .
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): In Zimbabwe, the Anacardiaceae species, Rhus lancea is a host plant of the taxon ( Pinhey 1960), while a yet to be identified Anacardiaceae species, Sclerocarya sp. is a host plant of the taxon in an unnamed African country or countries ( Pinhey 1975). Additionally, five Anacardiaceae species namely Rhus laevigata L., R. villosa E.Mey. ex Engl. , Searsia pyroides (Burch.) Moffett , Sclerocarya birrea Hochst. and S. birrea subsp. caffra (Sond.) Kokwaro and one Capparaceae species namely, Maerua sp. , are reported as larval foodplants of the taxon ( African Moths 2019).
