SYNONYM(S): Metarctia chapini Holland, 1920 ; Metarctia denisae Dufrane, 1945 ; Metarctia impura Kiriakoff, 1959a ; Metarctia rosea Aurivillius, 1906 .

DISTRIBUTION: Burundi, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Liberia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Kasempa and Solwezi, in Northwestern Province ; Mumbwa, in Central Province ; Mufulira, in Copperbelt Province ; Lusaka , in Lusaka Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larval foodplants include Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam. ( Convolvulaceae ).
