Acronicta (Plataplecta) albistigma ( Hampson, 1909) View in CoL

Acronycta albistigma Hampson, 1909 , Catalogue of the Lepidoptera Phalaenae View in CoL in the British Museum. 8: 93, Pl. 125:

12, (type locality: Japan [BMNH, London]) Synonymy: cavillatrix Draudt, 1950 View in CoL , syn. n. Acronycta cavillatrix Draudt, 1937 , Entomologische Rundschau 54(30–32): 383, pl. IV: 2d. Type material reported:

“West Tien-Mu-Shan (Prov. Chekiang), aus 1600m, Hohe, im Juli 1932."

Material examined. Lectotype of Acronycta cavillatrix (designated here, preserved in ZFMK): male "West- Tien-mu-shan (Prov. Chekiang) [Zhejiang], 31. VII 1932 (H. Höne) with old handwritten identification label

" Acr. cavillatrix ". Paralectotypes: 2 males with same data. Non type material : 1 female, Ost Tien-mu-shan, 16. vii 1932 (H. Höne); 4 male, 1female: Kuantun (2300m), (Fukien), 27°40ʹ n Br., 117°40ʹ oL, 19.iv, 3, 18, 21. v, 5.vi 1938 (L. J. Klapperich).

Notes. The identification label for A. cavillatrix is supplemented with addition label "Type verloren" [type lost]. However, we consider the specimens collected July 31 1932 in West Tien-mu-Shan as a part of the typeseries and select one of them as lectotype to clarify usage of the name. The specimens agree well with the original description and illustration by Draudt. The new synonymy is introduced after comparison of the specimens of A. cavillatrix (syn. n.) with the holotype of A. albistigma in BMNH.

Distribution. China (Shaanxi, Zhejiang, Fudjan[Fujian], Taiwan), Japan.

Acronicta (Viminia) digna (Butler, 1881)

Thalpophila digna Butler, 1881 , Transactions of the Entomological. Society of London, 1881: 176 (Type-locality: Japan: Yokohama [BMNH, London]).

Synonymy: michael Oberthür, 1884; hoenei Matsumura, 1926; agnata Draudt, 1937 , syn. n.; Acronycta metaxantha Hampson 1909 Catalogue of the Lepidoptera Phalaenae in the British Museum. 8: 139, Pl. 126: 17 (Syntypes: West China, Chia-kou-ho [BMNH, London]), syn. n.

Acronycta agnata Draudt, 1937 , Entomologische Rundschau 54(30–32): 397, Pl. IV:3d. Type material reported: " In kleiner Anzahl vom Hoeng-Shan (Prov. Hunan), Anfang Mitte April 1935."

Material examined. 4 males, Hoengshan prov. Hunan 3.v, 16, 21.ix 1933 H. Höne; 1f, Wenchow VI 1939 ; 9m, Kuatung (J. Klapperich): 3, 4, 5, 7, 19, 21, 28. iv 1938 H. Höne; 1 male, Tapaishan , 1700m, 1. v. 1937 ; 2 males, Harbin 10, 23. VII ( Alin ) .

Notes. The material reported above was identified in the collection of ZFMK as Acronicta agnata . The identification label for this species was supplemented with an additional label " Type verloren" [Type lost]. We did not find specimens with label data exactly corresponding to the original description. Apparently the types of A. agnata are lost, or the collecting data was incorrect in the original description. All examined specimens match well with the original description and illustration by Draudt (1950). By external characters and male genitalia structure Acronicta agnata (syn. n.) is conspecific with Acronicta digna . We examined photographs of the type specimen of Acronicta metaxantha (syn. n.), which in our opinion is conspecific with Acronicta digna and a junior synonym of the former.

Distribution. Russia, Siberia: Yakutia, Transbaikalia, Far East to Primorye. Korea, Japan (Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu), China (Heilongjiang, Jilin, Henan, Shaanxi, Hunan, Hubei, Taiwan).

Acronicta (Viminia) lutea (Bremer & Grey, 1852)

Acronycta lutea Bremer & Grey, 1852 , in Motschulsky, Études Entomologiques 1: 65 (Type-locality: China: Beijing [ZI,

St. Petersburg]). Synonymy: leucoptera Butler, 1881; suigensis Matsumura, 1926 ; metaxantha funesta Draudt, 1950, syn. n. Acronycta metaxantha funesta Draudt, 1950 , Mitteilungen der Münchener Entomologischen Gesellschaft, 40(1): 11, pl.

I:13,14. Type material reported: 2 females, 1 male, Hoeng-shan, 16.iv –18.viii 1933.

Material examined. Lectotype. Male lectotype (designated herein to clarify usage of the name, preserved in ZFMK) bearing label indicating " Holotype ", "Hoengshan, Prov. Hunan 25.iv 1933; Paralectotype: female indicated as " Allotype ": same locality, 18.vii. 1933 . Non-type material: 3 males, 1 female, same locality, 15.iv, 4, 5.viii 1933 ; 2 males, Tapaishan, 17, 27.vi 1936 (Höne). Other material: 2 males, 1 female, Harbin , 14.v, 11, 30.vii, 1950, 1951, 1952 (Alin) ; 1 female, Erzendianzy , Manchuria, vii. 1924 (Tolmachov) , 1 male Asamayama ( Japan) 14.v (H. Höne) ; 2 males, Koslowka / ex coll Kotzsch .

Notes. We selected as lectotype the specimen illustrated by Draudt and later indicated by him as " Holotype ". The structure of the male genitalia is identical with that of Acronicta lutea , a species widely distributed in the Mandschurian region. Consequently we synonymize the subspecific name funesta (syn. n.) with the former. A similar form was described by Matsumura (1926) from Korea as Acronicta suigensis , which also is placed as a synonym of A. lutea .

Distribution. South Siberia, Transbaikalia, Far East to Sakhalin. Mongolia, China (Heilongjiang, Hebei, Shaanxi, Hunan, Hubei), Korea, Japan (Honshu).
