Type Locality: Papua New Guinea, Morobe Prov., Sattelberg.
Vernacular Names: Black-spotted Cuscus.
Synonyms: Spilocuscus atrimaculatus ( Tate 1945) .
Distribution: N New Guinea, above 1200 m.
Conservation: IUCN – Endangered.
Discussion: Includes atrimaculatus (see G. G. George, 1979:98), but also see Feiler (1978 a), who placed it in maculatus .
