P. [yrgoma] cancellatum japonica: Sakakura, 1934: 580 .

P. [yrgoma] c. [ancellatum] japonica: Sakakura, 1934: 578 .

Diagnosis. Wall with 29±35 radiating ribs; articular furrow of scutum deep, narrow, limbus adductorum less than half overall height; tergum moderately broad, external furrow closed medially, spur distally tapering to a point, lacking depressor muscle crests.

Type locality and host. OV Kanaga, Tokyo Bay, Honshu Island , Japan, 35ss28¾N, 139ss38¾E, on Lophelia sp .

Remarks. We have reinstituted this species based on the illustrations and comments of Hiro (1935, ®gure 5; see also Ross and Newman, 1973, ®gure 14) from which it is apparent the limbus adductorum of the scutum is less than half the overall height, the tergum is somewhat broader (height to width ratio 3.0 1), the spur shorter and the external furrow medially closed when compared to P. cancellatum (see table 1).
