Sargus obscurus Wiedemann, 1830: 35 View in CoL . Holotype: male (SMF, examined, originally stated as female, in Woodley 2001: 199). Type locality: Brazil.

Material examined. Paraguay: 1 ♂, 2 ♀, [Canindeyú], Salto del Guairá, 07–10.xii.1971, L. Peña col. ( MZUSP; MZ017861, MZ015527 View Materials ) . 2 ♂, [Itapúa], Pirapó , 03–07.i.1972, L. Peña col. ( MZUSP) .

Distribution. Brazil, Paraguay ( Canindeyú : Salto del Guairá; Itapúa: Pirapó).

Comments. One male of Pirapó has the right antenna and wing slide-mounted, with genitalia dissected, stored in a microvial and pinned below the specimen.
