Type:—[ PANAMA.] Marraganti and vicinity, 3 September 1908, R. S. Williams 977 (holotype: NY 9099!).
Notes: —Ames (1922) described N. panamensis based on the sample of Williams 977, and reported the NY herbarium as being where the deposit was made, and it is still preserved there. The sample AMES barcode AMES 00101920 contains an illustration and a photograph of the type specimen, but they are not considered original material.
