Polypedilum (Uresipedilum) View in CoL sp.

( Figs 46F–G)

Material examined. A specimen labeled Pentapedilum tristis Kieffer is present in the Royal Institute of Natural Science of Belgium, Brussels, Belgium, collected by D. M. Goetghebuer, locality not given. The only species described by Kieffer under the epithet tristis appears to be Gripekovenia tristis Kieffer, 1918: 134 , described from Turkey. Gripekovenia , although a nomen nudum, is, however, an orthoclad. The specimen appears to represent a new species, but since it is damaged and the locality not known it would be better not to name it.

Male (n = 1)

Total length not measurable. Wing incomplete, not measurable. Thorax and abdominal segments pale brown; femur, tibia, and tarsi pale brown.

Head not discernible. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 43, 43, third and fourth not discernible, 119. Clypeus with 22 setae.

Thorax. Acrostichals 11, dorsocentrals 12, prealars 4. Scutellum with 10 setae.

Legs. Scale on foretibia 35 µm long, apical spur 12 µm long. Spurs on midtibia 50 µm long; on hind tibia 62 µm long. Comb on midtibia 23 µm long; combs on hind tibia 36 µm and 24 µm long. Width at apex of foretibia 62 µm; of midtibia 54 µm; of hind tibia 60 µm. Length of fore femur 861 µm; of midfemur 957 µm; of hind femur 1014 µm. Length of foretibia 641 µm; of midtibia 861 µm; of hind tibia 928 µm. All tarsi lacking.

Hypopygium. Tergite IX not discernible; laterosternite IX with 2 setae. Anal point 36 µm long, 10 µm wide at base, gradually tapering to 4 µm wide apex. Transverse sternapodeme 48 µm long; phallapodeme 76 µm long. Gonocoxite 167 µm long. Superior volsella ( Figs 46F–G) 58 µm long with 36 µm long apicomedian projection, 3 inner setae and 1 or 2 apical setae, microtrichia absent. Inferior volsella 140 µm long, parallel sided, with prominent apical seta. Gonostylus 164 µm long. HR 1.01.

Remarks. The shape of the superior volsella differs from all other known Pentapedilum indicating that the specimen may belong to a separate subgenus or even genus.
