Polypedilum (Pentapedilum) fanjingense Zhang et Wang, 2005: 3 View in CoL .

Material examined. CHINA: Guizhou Province, Fanjingshan Nature Conservation Area, Fanjing Mountain, Huguo Temple , 1100 m a.s.l., holotype male, 3.viii.2001, R. Zhang ( NU No. 14683) .

Diagnostic characters. The shape of the male hypopygium is similar to P. (Pe.) convexum and P. (Pe.) toyamadeeum by having a short broad anal point ( convexum group) with a distinct furrow. The species differs from P. (Pe.) convexum by the very low AR of about 0.4 as compared to 1.0–1.5. It differs from P. (Pe.) toyamadeeum by having foretibial scale with spur and base of superior volsella with 6 inner setae.

Male (n = 1). Total length 2.74 mm. Wing length 1.63 mm. Total length / wing length 1.68. Wing length / length of profemur 2.11. Thorax brown with dark brown postnotum, vittae and preepisternum. Abdominal segments yellowish brown with narrow dark brown posterior margins; femur, tibia and tarsi yellowish brown.

Head. AR 0.35. Ultimate flagellomere 202 µm long. Temporal setae 11 including 4 inner verticals, 5 outer verticals, and 2 postorbitals. Clypeus with 27 setae. Tentorium 142 µm long, 2 µm wide at posterior tentorial pit. Palpomere length (in µm): 47, 47, 114, 128, 200. Fifth palpomere / third palpomere 1.76.

Thorax. Acrostichals 21, dorsocentrals 29, prealars 6. Scutellum with 11 setae.

Wing. Anal lobe developed. VR 1.23. Brachiolum with 2 setae, Sc with 16 setae, R with 33, R 1 with 35, R 4+5 with 81, M with 11, RM with 3, M 1+2 with 77, M 3+4 with 41, Cu with 40, Cu 1 with 20, PCu with 59, An with 30 setae. Cells r 4+5, m 1+2, m 3+4, cell m basal of RM; cu plus an with more than 100 macrotrichia. Squama with 9 setae.

Legs. Scale on foretibia triangular with needle-like 54 µm long spur. Spurs on midtibia 63 µm long, on hind tibia 58 µm long. Comb on midtibia 24 µm long, combs on hind tibia 28 µm and 19 µm long. Width at apex of foretibia 40 µm, of midtibia 49 µm, of hind tibia 51 µm. Length and proportions of legs as in Table 18.

Hypopygium. Tergite IX with 25 median setae, laterosternite IX with 3 setae. Anal point ( Fig. 14H) very broad with distinct median furrow; 72 µm long, 40 µm wide at base, 28 µm wide at rounded apex; median furrow 12 µm wide at base, 9 µm wide at apex. Transverse sternapodeme 58 µm long; phallapodeme 79 µm long. Gonocoxite 142 µm long. Superior volsella ( Fig. 14I) 49 µm long, base bare with 6 inner setae, projection very slender, with 1 long dorsolateral seta.
