Material examined. CHINA: Shanxi Province, Zhouhi County, Banfangzi town , holotype male, 10.viii.1994, light trap, B. Ji ( NU No. 06487) .

Diagnostic characters. The species can be distinguished from other species with numerous macrotrichia, uniformly colored abdomen, foretibial scale without spur, and base of superior volsella covered with microtrichia, by having a superior volsella with a large base, with projection not longer than base, inferior volsella with two long apical setae, an anal point with basal V-shaped wedge, and squama with only 4 setae.

Male (n = 1)

Total length 2.78 mm. Wing length 1.69 mm. Total length / wing length 1.63. Wing length / length of profemur 2.14. Thorax brown at postnotum, antepronotum and preepisternum; abdomen yellowish brown; femur, tibia and tarsi brown.

Head. AR 1.17. Ultimate flagellomere 546 µm long. Temporal setae 15 including 4 inner verticals, 9 outer verticals, and 2 postorbitals. Clypeus with 17 setae. Tentorium 84 µm long, 5 µm wide at posterior tentorial pit. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 32, 31, 110, 126, 212. Fifth palpomere / third palpomere 1.94.

Thorax. Acrostichals 15, dorsocentrals 14, prealars 6. Scutellum with 6 setae.

Wing. Anal lobe developed. VR 1.15. Brachiolum with 2 seta, Sc with 23, R with 25, R 1 with 26, R 4+5 with 65, M with 6, RM with 2, M 1+2 with 62, M 3+4 with 40, Cu with 23, Cu 1 with 28, PCu with 46, An with 30 setae. Cells r 4+5, m 1+2, m 3+4, cell m basal of RM, cu plus an each with more than 100 macrotrichia. Squama with 4 setae.

Legs. Scale on foretibia 40 µm long, rounded, without apical spur. Spurs on midtibia 30 µm long, on hind tibia 33 µm long. Comb on midtibia 19 µm long, combs on hind tibia 23 µm and 13 µm long. Width at apex of foretibia 47 µm, of midtibia 49 µm, of hind tibia 65 µm. Length and proportions of legs as in Table 42.

Hypopygium. Tergite IX with 17 median setae, laterosternite IX with 4 setae. Anal point ( Fig. 35A) 44 µm long, 12 µm wide at base, nearly parallel-sided towards 7 µm wide apex. Transverse sternapodeme 26 µm long; phallapodeme 105 µm long. Gonocoxite 149 µm long. Superior volsella ( Fig. 35D) 70 µm long, microtrichia present on base and part of projection, base with 3 inner setae, projection with 1 dorsolateral seta. Inferior volsella ( Figs 35B–C) 89 µm long, parallel-sided, with 2 long prominent apical setae. Gonostylus 161 µm long. HR 0.98; HV 1.74.

Distribution. Known only from Shanxi Province, China.
