Material examined. CHINA: Tianjin City, Nankai University , holotype male, 20.v.1986, light trap, X. Wang ( NU No. 05188) .
Diagnostic characters. The male can be distinguished from other species with numerous macrotrichia on the wing membrane, uniformly colored abdomen, no spur on foretibia, and microtrichiose base of superior volsella, by having two lateral setae on the projection of the superior volsella, tergite IX with 25 median setae,
AR of about 1.9, about 49 dorsocentrals, and inferior volsella nearly parallel-sided. The species is similar to P. (Pe.) esakii which, however, has only one lateral setae on the projection of the superior volsella, is less setaceous, and has an AR of only about 0.5.
Male (n = 1)
Wing length 2.93 mm. Wing length / length of profemur 2.49. Thorax, abdominal segments, femur, tibia and tarsi dark brown.
Head. AR 1.93. Ultimate flagellomere 565 µm long. Temporal setae 10. Clypeus with 45 setae. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 62, 77, 233, 217, last segment lost. Third palpomere with 3 sensilla clavata.
Thorax. Acrostichals 30, dorsocentrals 49, prealars 15. Scutellum not clear.
Wing. Anal lobe moderately developed. VR 1.08. Brachiolum 7 setae, Sc not discernible, R with 111, R 1 with 80, R 4+5 with 129, M with 20, RM with 3, M 1+2 with 62, M 3+4 with 82, Cu with 75. Cells r 4+5, m 1+2, m 3+4, cell m basal of RM, cu plus an each with more than 100 macrotrichia. Squama damaged, with 4 setae according to Zhang and Wang (2005).
Legs. Scale on foretibia 75 µm long, rounded, without apical spur. Spurs on midtibia 72 µm long, on hind tibia 119 µm long. Comb on midtibia 33 µm long, combs on hind tibia 37 µm and 14 µm long. Width at apex of foretibia 58 µm, of midtibia 77 µm, of hind tibia 87 µm. Length and proportions of legs as in Table 34.
Hypopygium. Tergite IX with 25 median setae, laterosternite IX with 4 setae. Anal point 91 µm long, 19 µm wide at base, nearly parallel-sided, with 14 µm wide rounded apex. Transverse sternapodeme 89 µm long; phallapodeme 110 µm long. Gonocoxite 254 µm long. Superior volsella ( Fig. 15F) 114 µm long, base broad with microtrichia and 5 inner setae, projection apically curved, with 2 lateral setae situated close to base. Inferior volsella 65 µm long, nearly parallel-sided with 1 prominent apical seta. Gonostylus broad, 219 µm long. HR 1.16.
Distribution. Known only from China.
