Polypedilum (Pentapedilum) scirpicola (Kieffer) View in CoL
( Fig. 31)
Pentapedilum scirpicola Kieffer, 1921a: 76 View in CoL .
Polypedilum (Pentapedilum) nubens (Edwards) ; Ashe and Cranston (1990: 301).
Material examined. GERMANY: Eastern Holstein , holotype male, 8.viii.1918, A. Thienemann ( ZSM) .
Diagnostic characters. The male can be separated from other species with numerous setae on the wing membrane, uniformly colored abdomen, foretibial scale with spur, base of superior volsella bare and projection curved, by having the seta on the superior volsella projection placed in basal half, inferior volsella not clubbed, and wing cell m basal of RM with numerous macrotrichia. The species is very similar to P. (Pe.) longisetum , which, however, has a clubbed inferior volsella and wing cell m basal of RM with only about 40 macrotrichia.
Male (n = 1)
Total length not measurable. Wing length 2.48 mm. Wing length / length of profemur 2.27. Thorax dark brown, abdominal segments, femur, tibia and tarsi brown.

Transverse sternapodeme 87 µm long; phallapodeme 127 µm long. Gonocoxite 217 µm long. Superior volsella ( Fig. 31H) 98 µm long, base bare with 5 inner setae, projection with 1 dorsolateral seta.
