Type material. Holotype 3, CHINA, Guangxi Province: Tianlin County (24°20ʹN, 105°48ʹE), 2 June 2002, C. Zhang leg.
Diagnosis. Males can be distinguished from other Mallinella species by the narrow and long median apophysis, the bifurcated embolus, its lateral ramus terminally with broad flanges, longer and wider than mesal ramus ( Figs 7–10 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ).
Etymology. The specific epithet tianlin , from the name of Tianlin County, where the type material was collected.
Description. Male holotype total length 7.45; prosoma 3.77 long, 2.75 wide; opisthosoma 3.67 long, 2.35 wide.
Color. Carapace ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ) dark brown. Median furrow and radial groove black. Eyes with black rings. Clypeus dark brown. Chelicerae, endites and labium reddish brown, apices yellowish. Sternum reddish brown. Legs brown except femora dark brown. Dorsum of opisthosoma black, and with two pairs of white lateral patches, followed by three transverse white median patches, anterior median reddish brown; lateral part yellowish with black stripes; venter yellowish, covered with three irregular black stripes, in front of epigastric furrow brown. Spinnerets brown.
Prosoma ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ). Carapace longer than wide and with a longitudinal median furrow, only clypeus with several black setae. Both the eye rows procurved in dorsal view. Diameters of eyes: AME 0.13, ALE 0.11, PME 0.09, PLE 0.11. Interdistances of eyes: AME–AME 0.05, AME–ALE 0.09, ALE–ALE 0.51, PME–PME 0.08, PME–PLE 0.16, PLE–PLE 0.60, ALE–PLE 0.03. MOA 0.25 long, front width 0.23, back width 0.23. Clypeal height 0.71. Fang of chelicera very short. Apices of chelicerae and endites furnished with dense black scopula. Labium triangular, 0.61 long, 0.61 wide. Sternum 1.63 long, 1.43 wide and furnished with sparse black setae, lateral margin with small, pointed extensions fitting in coxal concavities of legs.
Legs. Metatarsi II–IV with ventral hair tufts in apical part. Measurements of legs: leg I 9.90 (2.65, 0.82, 2.04, 2.35, 2.04), II 8.88 (2.45, 0.82, 1.84, 2.14, 1.63), III 8.67 (2.45, 0.82, 1.73, 2.34, 1.33), IV 11.12 (3.06, 0.92, 2.35, 3.16, 1.63). Leg formula: 4123.
Opisthosoma ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ). Oval, longer than wide. Dorsal scutum indistinct. Posterior ventral spines thin, arranged in a single row.
Male palp ( Figs 7–10 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ). RTA digitiform, slightly wider at base, gradually tapering towards its blunt apex; cymbial fold fairly broad, approximately 2/3 length of cymbium; apex of median apophysis bifid, with sharply pointed tip on both ends, baso-retrolateral fold constricted subterminally, it apex blunt; apex of conductor pointed, pointing to ventral; embolus bifurcated, lateral ramus subapically with broad flanges, longer and wider than mesal ramus, apex of mesal ramus with a fold.
Distribution. China (Guangxi).
