Taxonomic history. Siculodes nubecula was described with an illustration of the male. Guenée (1877) noted that the species occurs in Rio de Janeiro [ Brazil] and that the specimen was deposited in his personal collection, and also that the species must be the type species of the genus Iza . Druce (1895) also referred to I. nubecula as the type species of the genus.

Rhodoneura configurata was described and illustrated based on a female [holo] type; synonymized with I. nubecula by Whalley & Heppner (1995).

Type material. Iza nubecula: Guenée (1858) was described based on the male, but without specifying the number of specimens. Whalley (1964) mistakenly stated that the holotype is a female when in fact the syntype is a male deposited in the NHMUK. This syntype was found in the collection referred to by Whalley (1964) and includes the author’s original labels that correspond to the published description. To give stability to the proposed name and ensure the correct identification of the species, this syntype is herein designated as a lectotype, with the following labels: / Holotype / Type/ 4. S. Nubecula Gn pl. du Spec. 1 fig. 3.—Wlk 521. Sup. Rio jan. / Siculodes nubecula Rio Janeiro / Ex. Musaeo Ach. Guénée / Ex Oberth̹r Coll. Brit. Rhodoneura configurata: Gaede (1936) described the species based on a female [holo]type found in the MSFR, with the author’s original labels with information corresponding to the original description; the holotype bears the following labels: / Typus / configurata Type det. M. Gaede / Blumenau Sta. Catharina 25.XII.1929. Ad. Friedrich S. / Senckenb. Mus. / 4 / Fotografiert 2014 H. Thöny. /

Geographic distribution ( Fig. 16 ). BRAZIL: Bahia: Camacan; Reserva Serra Bonita ; Mato Grosso: Alto Paraguai; Espírito Santo: Santa Leopoldina, Tirol; Rio de Janeiro: Itatiaia; São Paulo: Salesópolis, Boraceia; São José do Barreiro, Bocaina; Santa Catarina: Blumenau.

Natural history. Immature stages and host plant unknown. Based on label information the species occurs both in forest and cerrado and adults were caught from January to May, and November– December.
