Type Locality: Somalia, "Gelib".

Vernacular Names: Greenwood's Shrew.

Distribution: S Somalia.

Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable.

Discussion: Species confined to the Horn of Africa; apparently related to fulvastra and hirta , with which greenwoodi shares the same karyotype (2n = 50, FN = 66) ( Schlitter et al., 1999).
