Goeze gave a short description and quoted Geoffroy (1762, Tom. I. p. 597. No.11). Geoffroy referred to Réaumur (1738, Vol. 4, plate 5, fig. 2). Gmelin (1790: 2221) listed both of these references under Coccus fuscus Gmelin . Current status: Fernald (1903: 188) placed the species as Eulecanium fuscum (Gmelin) = Eulecanium tiliae (Linnaeus) .
