Gmelin cited Modeer (1778). Signoret (1869: 851) listed the name as Coccus diosmatis Modeer and placed it in Lecanium . Fernald (1903: 325) listed Coccus diosmatis as an unrecognisable species. Current status: we regard Coccus diosmatis Gmelin as an inadmissible replacement name for Coccus diosma Modeer.
