Agnetina donans View in CoL sp. nov.

Figs.1–9.

Male. Macropterous, forewing length 12–13mm, body length 10–11mm. Tergum 5 lobe rounded and extending to anterior margin of tergum 6, with sensilla basiconica along posterior margins of the lobe (Figs. 3, 5, 7, 8); anterior of tergum 6 with deep median notch, posterolateral margin of tergum 6 sclerotized, postmedian bilobed and bearing apical sensilla basiconica; apex overhanging tergum 7 (Figs. 3, 5, 7, 8); tergum 7 sclerotized anteriorly and laterally, anterior margin with a shallow notch, mesal field with large membranous area (Figs. 3, 5, 7, 8); terga 8–9 sclerotized anteriorly and laterally, sparse sensilla basiconica patch forming two clusters medially, anteromedian area of tergum 8 sclerotized strongly in lateral view, the anteromedian area of tergum 9 with numerous sensilla basiconica and strongly sclerotized (Figs. 3, 5, 7, 8). Sterna 6–8 with hair brushes most prominent on sternum 6 (Figs. 4, 5, 8). Hemitergites long and directed upward, dorsal aspect of hemitergites thick and wide, apically with some sensilla basiconica, middle of hemitergites with a row of sensilla basiconica, a row of sensilla basiconica on ventral of hemitergites and between the median and apex in lateral view (Figs. 3, 5, 7, 8). Aedeagus short, small in diameter and mostly membranous, the apex slightly enlarged, oval-shaped and middle area armed by tiny and pellucid spines ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7–9 ).

Female. Macropterous, forewing length 20mm, body length 14mm. Subgenital plate similar to an inverted trapezoid, wider than long, posterior margin with a slight median depression (Figs. 1, 6).

Type material. Holotype male, CHINA: Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of Ili , Qapqal Xibe Autonomous County, Qingquan township , 43°48’46” N, 81°11’3” E, 560m, 4 Aug 2018, Leg. Xu-Bo Wang and Yong Wang ( ICSFU) GoogleMaps . Paratypes: 1 male and 1 female, same data as holotype ( ICSFU) GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The Latin name “ donans ” means gift. The specific name refers to the donation of valuable stonefly material by Dr. Xu-bo Wang and Mr. Yi-fan Li to the authors.

Remarks. The new species seems related to A. cocandica (McLachlan, 1875) , A. extrema (Navás, 1912) , A. immersa (McLachlan, 1875) , A. pedata (Koponen, 1949) and A. senilis Klapálek, 1921 , sharing in the male the lobes of tergum 5, the lobed or bilobed tergum 6 and the long hemitergites. The above-mentioned species are mostly distributed in Russia, Kirghizstan, and Uzbekistan of the eastern Palearctic Region.

Tergum 6 of the male of A. cocandica is produced into an emarginate lobe. Tergum 7 and tergum 8 of the male of A. extrema possess sensilla basiconica patches; tergum 7 and tergum 8 of the male of A. senilis appear wrinkled in lateral view; and above-mentioned three species and A. pedata are all macropterous and the hemitergites of the male lack a row of sensilla basiconica ventrally. Males of A. immersa are brachypterous and tergum 9 lack sensilla basiconica. The male of A. donans is macropterous and distinguished by the anteromedian area of tergum 9 bearing numerous sensilla basiconica and strongly sclerotized with a sparse patch of sensilla basiconica clustered on membrane, tergum 6 postmedially with a distinct deep notch and bilobed; the membrane area of tergum 8 with a sparse patch of sensilla basiconica, the anteromedian area of tergum 8 sclerotized strongly in lateral view; and with a row of sensilla basiconica ventrally on hemitergites. The subgenital plate of female of the new species differs by the small anterior notch with a slight indention on posterior margin.
