Type Locality: "in Ceylona" ( Sri Lanka).
Vernacular Names: Indian Spotted Chevrotain.
Synonyms: Moschiola ceylonensis (Pallas 1779) ; Moschiola indica ( Gray 1843) ; Moschiola malaccensis ( Gray 1843) ; Moschiola memennoides (Hodgson 1841) ; Moschiola mimenoides ( Hodgson 1842) .
Distribution: Sri Lanka and peninsular India. Supposed occurrence in Himalayan foothills of India and Nepal not confirmed ( Champion, 1929).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
