Material examined. Eight adult males in 8 pieces of amber (Eocene, ~40-45 Ma , Gulf of Gdańsk, Figure 1 View FIGURE 1 ) : 1 male ( CCHH 93-7 , 14 x 13.5 x 5 mm), syninclusions: Acari (2 ind. attached to abdomen) ; 1 male ( CCHH 213-9 , 9 x 8 x 3.5 mm, Figure 6.5, 6.6 View FIGURE 6 ) ; 1 male ( CCHH 242-2 , 11.5 x 6.5 x 3.5 mm, Figure 6.3, 6.4 View FIGURE 6 ) ; 1 male ( CCHH 242-3 , 8.5 x 7.5 x 4 mm), syninclusions: Acari (2 ind.) ; 1 male ( CCHH 257-9 , triangular 20 x 9.5 x 5 mm) ; 1 male ( CCHH 1754-2, 13 x 13 x 4 mm) ; 1 male ( CCHH 1754-3 , 10.5 x 7.5 x 5 mm) ; 1 male ( CCHH 1754-8 , 9.5 x 8 x 5 mm) .

Remarks. Tanytarsus serafini is the best known and one of the most frequently recorded species of Tanytarsini in Baltic amber . Figure 6.3-6 View FIGURE 6 illustrates the structure of the anal tergite together with the median setae (these have become stuck together with resin, giving the impression that they are spinulae) and an atypical structure of the superior volsella (cf. Giłka, 2010).
