Distribution: Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok, Timor, and adjacent small islands.
Conservation: IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992) – Not Threatened. IUCN 2003 – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Formerly included in sphinx , but see Hill (1983); also see Corbet and Hill (1992). The position of diardii in this synonymy remains somewhat uncertain, see Corbet and Hill (1992) and Pavlinov et al. (1995 b).
