Note.
According to Fan et al. (2016), who described this species as an asexual morph from Gansu Province in China on Betula albosinensis , Melanconis betulae can be distinguished from M. stilbostoma by the smaller average length of its alpha conidia (10 vs. 12 μm). Phylogenetically, M. betulae is remote from the other betulicolous Melanconis species (Fig. 1 View Figure 1 ).
