Hymenophyllopsis superba Lellinger (1984: 3) View in CoL . Type: VENEZUELA, Amazonas, Cerro de la Neblina, Río Yatua, east escarpment slopes of Caño Grande below Cumbre Camp, Maguire, Wurdack & Maguire 42250 (holotype US!, isotype NY). A new name is chosen because of the existence of C. superba ( Jenman 1898) Domin (1930: 164) View in CoL .
Distribution: Venezuela (Amazonas), dry rock ledges in the Cerro de la Neblina, 1400–1600 m.
Characteristics: This species differs from the other members of Cyathea subg. Hymenophyllopsis because of its villous rachises with translucent, shiny hairs and long lamina to 25 cm.
