Anthocoris lugubris Flor, 1860: 647 non Boheman, 1852; Temnostethus pusillus var. gracilis Horváth, 1907: 311 ; Temnostethus gracilis Horváth (upgraded by Stichel, 1937).
Distribution in Iran. Guilan ( Linnavuori & Hosseini 2000).
General distribution. Euro Siberian, Canada.
Plant associates. Pirus malus , P. communis , Prunus spinosa , Crataegus sp. ( Rosaceae ), Fraxinus sp. ( Oleaceae ), Quercus sp., Fagus sp. ( Fagaceae ), Betula sp., Corylus sp. ( Betulaceae ), Acer sp. ( Sapindaceae ), Salix sp., Populus sp. ( Salicaceae ), mosses, lichens ( Péricart 1972).
Prey records. Chaitophorus populi Koch, 1854 ( Hemiptera : Aphididae ), Psyllidae (Hemiptera) ( Péricart 1972).
Biology. In this species there is an embryonic diapause and only 4 larval instars ( Saulich & Musolin 2009). In Western Europe females of T. gracilis overwinter with empty ovarioles (so both adults and oviposited eggs overwinter) ( Saulich & Musolin 2009).
