A smallsized Manota .
Male. Head. Flagellomere 4, Fig. 12A View FIGURE 12 . Maxillary palpus with palpomere 3 bearing 5 apically expanded curved sensilla; palpomere 4 with parasegment. Thorax. Anepisternum setose. Anterior basalare nonsetose. Preepisternum 2 setose. Laterotergite nonsetose. Episternum 3 setose. Wing. Length 1.4 mm. Wing membrane dorsally with few setae at posterior margin. Sc distally of h nonsetose. A1 indicated by few setae. Hypopygium ( Figs. 12B View FIGURE 12 ). Sternite 9 large, extending posteriorly over half of ventral length of gonocoxa, laterally sharply delimited, apically confluent with membranous more posterior structures, setae similar to adjacent ventral setae of gonocoxa. Dorsomesial margin of gonocoxa simple except for large rounded lobe apically with rather normal short setae, in position III with 2 curved simple megasetae arising from common long basal body; gonocoxa apicolaterally with tapering but blunt, mesially setose, subtriangular lobe. Gonostylus long, narrow, slightly apically curved, apicodorsally with crest with strong setae. Parastylar lobe present, broad, without distinct apex, with 2 setae directed obliquely posteriad. Tegmen rather long, subtriangular, with distinct shoulders. Setae on sternite 10 widely scattered.
Female and preimaginal stages unknown.
Discussion
Manota fera is not very similar to any of the other species. It is the only species which has a long apicolateral lobe on the gonocoxa together with a broadly ventrally setose sternite 10.
