Type material. Lectotype, male: Madagascar, Mt. des Francais , 17.XIII.1952, Dr K.E. Schedl [ NHMW].

Diagnosis. Length 1.3–1.5 mm, 2.4–2.6 × long as wide; colour dark brown to black. Female frons lightly concave, with dense fringe of short setae along the dorsal edge of concavity, setae about half the length of those on scapus, impressed area with few scant setae; male frons granulated in upper half, smoother and impressed on lower half; interstrial setae on elytra short and spatulate, separated within rows by their length.

Distribution and biology. Madagascar. Known from north and north-west of the island, breeding in lianas of Cryptostegia madagascariensis (Apocynaceae) ( Schedl 1977). New collections in Ankarafantsika were all taken from a thin liana.
