Type material. Holotype, male: Madagascar, Boeny, Ankarafantsika NP, 200 m alt. [ GIS: -16.264, 46.828], ex liana, 7.V.2015 GoogleMaps . Allotype female and paratypes: same data as holotype (9); same data as holotype, except 8.V.2015 (3) and 9.V.2015 (3) GoogleMaps . Holotype, allotype and 10 paratypes in ZMUB , 4 paratypes in NHMW .

Diagnosis. Posterolateral areas of the elytra distinctly granulated; male frons broadly and deeply concave, with two small pits in upper area of concavity separating a dorsal carinae and upper eyes; female frons glabrous on lower median third, finely setose around it.

Description, male. Length 1.3–1.6 mm, 2.6–2.8 × long as wide; colour brown or dark brown. Frons deeply and broadly concave, almost glabrous, upper margin on vertex lightly carinate, separated from upper eyes by a pair of deeper small pits. Eyes separated above by 2.0–2.2 × their width. Antennal scapus small, rounded, with scant short setae; club with two distinctly marked and strongly procurved sutures. Pronotum without distinct summit, anterior half asperate, asperities separated by their size; posterior half weakly rugose; vestiture mainly of bristle-like setae and fewer intermixed, fine, hair-like setae. Elytral interstriae increasingly rugose and granulated posteriorly, in posterolateral areas distinctly granulated; setae increasingly spatulate posteriorly, in rows, separated within rows by their length on declivity, on disc more spaced. Protibiae with one lateral and three apical denticles.

Etymology. A Latin nominative adjective meaning granulated, referring to the distinct sharp granules along the sides of the posterior third of the elytra.

Distribution and biology. Madagascar. The species was collected several times in Ankarafantsika, a dry forest in the north-west of the country. Specimens were dissected from dead lianas 2–3 cm in diameter. Colonisations were dense, and brood sizes were large, but too old for a detailed study of their mating system.
