Diplotrichus widdringtoniae ( Schedl, 1962)

Type material. Paratype: South Africa, Cederberg, J.H. Grobler, 14.2.1959, Ac.X. 638 [ NHMW, holotype from same collecting event in SANC] . Holotype, Glostatus perplexus : Z.A.99, Seder Berg , 500–1100m, Clanwilliam distr. C.P., humus under bushes and large stones, 1.V.1962, N. Leleup [ NHMW] .

Diagnosis. Length 2.3–2.5 mm, 2.4 × as long as wide, colour dark brown; male(?) frons broadly flattened, with low lateral carinae from epistoma to upper level of eyes; antennal club with two clearly marked, weakly procurved, almost bisinuate sutures; setae on elytral interstriae variable in length and colour, in confused rows mixed with ground vestiture of short and broad setae; striae with deep large punctures.

Distribution. South Africa.

New records. South Africa, Western Cape prov., 22 km SE Clanwilliam, Jarnaka Farm [ GIS: -32.334, 19.033], 08.12.2007, J. Deckert, leg. [ ZMHB] .

Remarks. Collected on several occasions from Widdringtonia (African cypress, Cupressaceae ), in the Cape region ( Wood & Bright 1992). It is a unique species in its variegated confused interstrial setae of variable length. However, it has split setae on the metaventrite and first abdominal ventrite as in other Diplotrichus species.
