1. Cleantioides rotundata ( Kussakin, 1982) View in CoL
²Ṛ꼬ƞēëḇNjäḑ (ṳAE) ( Fig. 3 View Fig )
Synonyms. Zenobiana rotundata Kussakin, 1982: 99 ,
fig. 71.
Cleantioides rotundata View in CoL : Poore and Lew Ton, 1990: 59; Kwon and Kim, 1992: 89.
Material examined. Korea: 2♂♂, Opori, Ganggumyeon, Yeongdeokgun , Gyeongsangbukdo, 36°21′N, 129°23′E, August 27, 2014, depth 35 m, collected with light traps by Song J.H GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. Body ( Fig. 3A, D View Fig ) cylindrical, approximately 13.2 mm, almost 5.1 times longer than greatest width. Head approximately 1.7 times wider than long; anterior margin some emarginated at midpoint. Coxal plates not visible dorsally on pereonites 24, but distinctly visible dorsally on pereonites 57. Maxillipedal palp ( Fig. 3E View Fig ) with 5 articles. Pleonites composed of 3 complete and 1 incomplete segments (3 + 1). Pleotelson ( Fig. 3B, C View Fig ) parallelsided with anteriorly deeply bilobed depression.
Remarks. Cleantioides rotundata is distinguished from other species of Cleantioides by several characteristics: (1) maxillipedal palp with 5 articles; (2) very long pleotelson (more than 1.6 times longer than greatest width); and (3) pleotelson with anteriorly deeply bilobed depression. Cleantioides rotundata is very similar to C. striata Poore & Lew Ton, 1990 in external features. However, C. rotundata differs from C. striata in having a longer pleotelson (almost 1.61.8 times longer than width in C. rotundata vs 1.2 times longer than width in C. striata ) and pleotelson with anteriorly deeply bilobed depression (pleotelson with dorsum of distal third with poorly defined oblique oval plane in C. striata ). The characteristics of the pleotelson is very important in the genus Cleantioides . So, we photographed the pleotelson of C. rotundata using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) ( Fig. 3B, C View Fig ). In general, C. rotundata specimens from South Korea agreed well with the illustrations and original description of Kussakin (1982).
Habitat. Habitat information is not available for the type locality. This species makes a tubes using seagrass debris at the sampling location of South Korea ( Figs. 1 View Fig , 2) . World distribution. Japan ( Kussakin 1982), Korea .
Deposition. NIBR No. NIBRIV0000437273, NIBRIV 0000437274 (2 males) .
Molecular characteristic. GenBank accession numbers: KX078773, KX078774 (2 males).
Identifiers. JiHun Song, GiSik Min.
